Google Is Restoring Missing Out On Reviews In Organization Profiles

Google is restoring missing evaluations in Google Organization Profiles after repairing a bug that triggered them to get removed.

Google is fixing a bug that caused evaluations to go missing from Google Business Profiles. Google validates reviews are getting restored. Google’s Browse Liaison, Danny Sullivan, revealed on Buy Twitter Verified Badge in reply to Mike Blumenthal, who states he reported the bug a week ago.

Blumenthal isn’t exaggerating the severity of the bug. Reviews are a restaurant’s bread and butter, and removing them can substantially impact revenue.

There are numerous threads in the Google Organization Profile help online forums begun by entrepreneur who lost most or all of their evaluations.

In each thread, business owners share something in typical. After applying Google’s recommended edits to their service profile, they all lost reviews.

Blumenthal writes in a blog post that he found Google was changing the consumer recognition (CID) number when organizations applied suggested edits:

“With some digging, I found that in each case Google had actually altered the CID, the identifier Google uses to tie all appropriate info to a business, including evaluations. Typically the CID just changes when two listings merge or Google has hard-suspended a listing for guidelines violations and after that restored it.”

Customer evaluations are associated with a specific CID number, which implies changing the CID gets rid of the evaluations.

That should never happen, specifically not when using Google’s recommended edits.

A fix is on the way, and hopefully, it’s as simple as reverting the affected Google Service Profiles to their initial CID numbers.

We’ll update this post if Google shares extra information.
